Spring is springing

In mid-February I started working for the consultancy Good Faith Partnership as digital comms lead. Good Faith aim to find solutions to some of society’s most difficult problems, connecting businesses, charities, government and faith-based organisations together.

One of their biggest campaigns is Warm Welcome UK which began as a moment in response to the cost-of-living crisis in the winter of 2022-23 and which has grown into a movement. You can read more about it here. In essence, it involves community spaces opening up as warm spaces to people in fuel poverty, or experiencing loneliness.

I’ll be handling social media, email newsletters and updating their websites and it’s been great getting to know the rest of the team and to understand their projects, which fit with my aim to work with people who make a positive difference to the world.

I’ve worked for quite a few organisations over the past 32 years, and this has been the nicest, most thorough induction I’ve had! The rest of the team are lovely and have been so welcoming – plus, this is the first time I’ve had an ergonomic chair supplied to me at home to facilitate home working. Good people, indeed.

I’ll be in Bristol once a month and London once a month for co-working days, so let me know if you’d like to meet up.

In other news

I haven’t had loads of time to collate titbits of media news this month. Press Gazette reported in late February about Vice Media laying off staff and stopping publishing on its website in this story. The story contains some familiar but still depressing stats about how young people get their news from social media and how the big tech firms are pushing other providers out of the news space.

Meanwhile, also from Press Gazette, comes this story about ITN CEO Rachel Corp talking about the emotional toll on journalists from reporting horrendous news such as the continuing Israel-Gaza conflict.

Just a really short update from me this month. Hope you all have a fantastic March – spring is springing!
